HTC Wildfire S: Root & ClockworkMod Recovery Installation

HTC Wildfire S can now be rooted easily. You can also install ClockworkMod recovery to flash custom ROMs and hacks. Today we will share an easy guide for HTC Amaze rooting as well as installing ClockworkMod recovery aka CWM recovery. HTC Wildfire S isn’t much powerful device with it’s only 600 MHz ARM 11 processor and 512MB of RAM. But with the help of custom ROM you can utilize the power whatever maximum the device can offer. Also, rooted device let you install apps that ask for root permission. However, rooting and CWM Recovery usually little bit technical. To simplify thing, we are here to guide you to root your HTC Wildfire S and install CWM recovery on it. To check if you successfully rooted your device or not install an app called “Root Checker” that available for download from Google PLAY store for free.


Pre Requisites:

Backup your data first using below mentioned instructions, so that if you lost any data you can recover it easily.

SMS & Call LogUse SMS, MMS & Call Log Entries Backup & Restore App
Contacts & SettingsUse Android default backup options.
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to Internal/External SD card.
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names


  1. Make sure your device have at least 80% battery power. [How to Check Battery Percentage in Android Device]
  2. You already have USB Driver Installed for HTC Wildfire S in your PC. [Download USB Driver]
  3. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled. [Guide]
  4. Make sure bootloader is unlocked. [visit] or use given tool for easier way to achieve the task.

            thanks man.. im just trying to root my phone and flash a custom rom.. but afraid if anythings get out of hand.. so trying to see if there’s a way to revert the phone to original state

    Hi Arafat,

    I am trying to root my wildfire S and till now succeeded in loading CWM image.I am getting stuck while performing step2 under “How To Root HTC Wildfire S”

    Here I am getting a black screen with red exclamation mark by saying in cmd prompt as

    H:Wildfire_S_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0data>adb push Su/ /s
    * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
    * daemon started successfully *
    error: device not found
    Go to Install Zip From SD Card
    Choose Zip From SD Card
    Locate and flash it
    Press the back button and then reboot the phone
    You are now rooted!
    H:Wildfire_S_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0data>adb reboot recovery
    error: device not found
    Press any key to continue . . .

    and hence its not rooted till yet.

    Any suggestion to overcome this and to solve it out.
