GSM variant of Xperia PLAY R800i/R800a can now be upgraded to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Sony already drop support for this device, even not released any Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware. However, that not going to discourage developer to install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on Xperia PLAY as hardware meet the requirement. You can upgrade your device from Android 4.0.4 ICS to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean using custom firmware CM10. The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean based CM10 ROM released under FreeXperia project. This CM10 build is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and comes with many custom tweaks and features. We yet to get any Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM for this device, once that available we will update you.
Here, you should note this CM10 ROM for Xperia PLAY is under development and may have bugs and issues. All issues will be fixed as the development progress.

SMS & Call Log – Use SMS, MMS & Call Log Entries Backup & Restore App
Contacts & Settings – Use Android default backup options.
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to Internal/External SD card.
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
