How To Install Android 4.1.2 CM10 Jelly Bean on Xperia PLAY CDMA R800x

The CDMA variant of Xperia PLAY (R800x) available for Verizon customers can now be upgraded to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. This is possible by flashing custom rom CM10 which is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Xperia PLAY CDMA R800x comes with outdated Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean based CM10 ROM released under FreeXperia project. This CM10 build is based on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and comes with many custom tweaks and features. We yet to get any Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM for this device, once that available we will update you.

Here, you should note this CM10 ROM for Xperia PLAY is under development and may have bugs and issues. All issues will be fixed as the development progress.

CM10-Stable

Pre Requisites:

Backup your data first using below mentioned instructions, so that if you lost any data you can recover it easily.

SMS & Call LogUse SMS, MMS & Call Log Entries Backup & Restore App
Contacts & SettingsUse Android default backup options.
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to Internal/External SD card.
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Important!

  1. Make sure your device have at least 80% battery power. [How to Check Battery Percentage in Android Phones]
  2. You already have USB Driver Installed for Xperia PLAY in your PC. [USB Driver].
  3. Bootloader is unlocked. [Go to –> unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com]
  4. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled. [Guide].
  5. ClockworkMod Recovery Installed [Guide].
  6. Make sure ADB is installed. [Guide] [Required to flash CM10 kernel]

    Your link is for the wrong version of the CM10 mod. It’s not for R800x It’s for the R800i and R800at

      As mentioned on developer page the zeusc.zip is for R800(x/-). So, we didn’t put the wrong link.

        Right… but its not zeusc the link takes you to just plain ol’ zeus. At least it did for me.

    this is not for the r800x. this is for a GSM model, not a CDMA. it will let you flash, but when you start your cell, it keeps throwing an error concerning “android.phone has stopped working”.

      Did you install that boot.img? We actually offer what developer gave us in their official page. According to development page this is for R800x, don’t really know why this isn’t working! Anyway, thanks for the report. We updated the download link. That may fixed the issue.

        Yes, i know how to flash cell phones. I did install the boot.img.

            Ran through it yesterday myself and ended up with the same result unfortunately. Looking into other custom ROMs now.

        I have followed the link. tried the boot.img that came with the rom, tried other boot.img that i know work with my r800x. this rom is not compatible with an r800x. That is now a fact.
