- Then tap on Chat Preferences and later on Chat History Backup. The backup process will then start.
This manual backup file will be saved as “msgstore.db.crypt” in your /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases folder.
Now, after a full reset when you re-install WhatsApp, it will ask you to restore backup file. You need to tap on Yes to start the restore process. Don’t forget to rename backup file that you want to restore from “msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt” to “msgstore.db.crypt”.
