How To Backup and Restore Your Android Data?

Backing up data is essential part of digital life and Android devices are no different. So what we should back up? The general answer is – contact details and settings that we change to better our life with android. For this simple ask we don’t require any third party app, we don’t really need to spend anything; our very own Android phone can do it itself. All we have to do, just activate those backup settings.

How to Activate Backup feature in Android Phone?

There are two backup options available in latest Android phone – Account and sync and Backup my data.

Account and Sync

Account and sync feature can backup contacts, Gmail, Picasa Web Album and Calendar. The said data actually sync in your Google account thus are very much safe.

Follow the procedure to activate Sync feature in your Android phone:

1. Press menu button and then tap on ‘Settings’.

2. Among various option that appeared in front of you choose ‘Accounts and sync’. Add a Gmail account by inserting ID and Pass. Your data will start syncing. By default the sync process is automatic but you can force it to sync anytime by tapping on green sync button located just beside your email id.

The best thing is whether changes you make to information on your device or on the web are automatically synced with each other.

Back up my data

By activating back up my data option you actually save a wide variety of your personal data, including your Wi-Fi passwords, Browser bookmarks, a list of the apps you’ve installed on Google Play, the words you’ve added to the dictionary used by the onscreen keyboard, and most of your customized settings. The whole process is automatic. And the data is very much safe in Google cloud server.

Follow the procedure to activate ‘Back up my data’ function:

1. Press menu button and then tap on ‘Settings’.

2. Among various option that appeared in front of you select ‘Privacy’. Then check ‘Back up my data’ if not checked already. You should also check ‘Automatic restore’ option if not done already.

Ok! All the above mentioned procedure backup our data, so how we going to restore it after a factory reset.

The answer is simple. Follow the above procedure and login with same email id that you use earlier. If you’ve been backing up your data to a Google account, an option during the setup process allows you to restore it.

However, the above process can’t back up SMS and MMS. We need to use third-party app for that. Stay with us, we going to discuss the topic soon.
