Android 4.0.4 Update for Galaxy Y S5360 Via CM9 Custom ROM

How to Install Jelly Bean CM9 ROM on Galaxy Y S5360

  1. Connect your Galaxy Y S5360 to PC using USB cable.
  2. Copy all downloaded zip file to the SD card of your phone. Important: Don’t extract any file.
  3. Disconnect USB and then turn off your phone.
  4. Boot into recovery by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together. Once the screen turns on, let go of the Home button, but keep holding the Volume Up & Power button together till the device boots into CWM recovery.
  5. Perform a Nandroid backup of your existing ROM that you can restore later if this new ROM not work or you want to go back. To perform a backup, select Backup and Restore, then on the next screen, select Backup again. Go back to main recovery menu after backup is complete.
  6. Then perform data wiping task. To do so, select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm your action. Wait few minutes till the data wipe is completed.
  7. Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Now, locate the cm-9-20120803-UNOFFICIAL-totoro-0.1.zip file that you copied earlier in Step 2 and select it by pressing Power button (tap on it if using touch version). Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM installation will begin.
  8. When installation is completed, go back to the main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot the smartphone and boot up into customized ICS ROM CM9. The first boot will take time, so be patient!
  9. Returning to Previous ROM: To go back to your previous ROM, boot into recovery, select backup and restore then restore your previous ROM by selecting it from the list.

    sir first i had jelly blast on my sgy then i updated it to 4.0.4 and it works but i do mistake that i reboot my phone @ of 44% battery i have and i reboot it and flash it on hybrid rom sir plz heil me wht should i do sir plzz i m requesting u to suggest me

      Unable to get you. If your phone is soft brick then flash official firmware and your smartphone will be fine. You can then install CWM and flash whatever ROM match your device.

    can i flash this cm 9 rom on my ace s5830i…as all say that galaxy ace s5830i and galaxy y have same hardware…plz tell

      No you can’t.Galaxy Y have 290MB RAM, so a minimized version of CM9 can work in it but not in S5830i.

    Will try it today on galaxy y. I hope there are no bugs. By myself i have an galaxy Gio. Rooting and Flashing Roms on galaxy y are going the same way as on galaxy gio isn’t it?

      Yes! It’s same but rooting file or ROM shouldn’t be same unless mentioned by developer.
